If you were approved for credentials, you should have received this notice in an email message from Pittsburgh Media. The White House and the U.S. State Department announced the following updated logistical details for media planning to cover the Pittsburgh Summit. The following information is for media logistical planning purposes only. It is not for broadcast or publication.
Credentials Pickup
Credentials for The Pittsburgh Summit will be distributed at the following times and locations.
David L. Lawrence Convention Center, West Lobby
Monday, September 21 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Tuesday, September 22 8:30 AM – 11:00 PM
Wednesday, September 23 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Mellon Arena, Gate #8 Box Office
Thursday, September 24 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
A photo ID is required to pick up your credential. If you are not able to pick up your credential in person, you may designate a third party to pick it up for you by emailing pittsburghmedia@state.gov.
Media Access
All media entering any official summit sites during the summit must pass through a security screening checkpoint at Mellon Arena. The checkpoint will be located near Gate 7 of the Arena. Following screening, press will board a shuttle bus that will take them to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The checkpoint will open at 8:00 AM on Thursday, September 24. The checkpoint will close at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 25. Press access to the Convention Center prior to Thursday will be via the West Lobby of the Convention Center.
A limited amount of daily parking will be available in the parking lots surrounding Mellon Arena on a first come first served basis. The cost is $8/day.
Access to the media center will be according to the following schedule:
Tuesday, September 22: 8:30 AM – Access for SETUP ONLY
11:00 PM (Enter at West Lobby)
Wed., September 23: 8:00 AM Access for editorial use/broadcast begins

10:00 PM Media Center closes for security sweep
Thursday, September 24: 8:00 AM Media Center reopens
(Enter at Mellon Arena)
The media center will remain open 24 hours a day between 8:00 AM Thursday and 8:00 AM Saturday. The Mellon checkpoint will remain open 24 hours a day between 8:00 AM Thursday and 6:00 PM Friday. Access after 6:00 PM Friday is via the West Lobby.
Saturday, September 26: 8:00 AM FINAL BROADCAST
12:00 NOON Media move-out deadline
Press covering summit locations outside the Convention Center need to have the appropriate underlay and should follow the appropriate access procedures listed below. A limited number of underlays have been provided to each delegation for distribution to their home country press.
Airport
Arrivals of foreign dignitaries are expected throughout the day on Thursday, September 24. Press covering the airport arrival must be placed on the access list by their home country and possess a summit media credential.
Press coverage of arriving delegation aircraft at the airport will be limited to a designated press pool. Those designated as members of the airport press pool covering the arrivals of the European Commission and Argentina as well as all permitted live transmission vehicles must assemble at the temporary press center no later than 8:00 AM on Sep 24 for security screening. All other members of the press pool must be at the temporary press center no later than 10:30 AM. The press center will be located in the building normally occupied by Integrated De-icing Solutions (IDS). The IDS building address is:

Phipps Conservatory
Any press covering the Phipps Conservatory arrivals must have the appropriate underlay. Press access to Phipps Conservatory will be by shuttle from the Mellon Arena. Press transiting from the Convention Center to the Phipps Conservatory will need to take a media shuttle back to Mellon Arena and transfer to a Phipps shuttle. Transfer will be possible without additional security screening. Press will need to have a Phipps Conservatory underlay to board the bus to Phipps.
Phipps Conservatory Pre-Set: 11:00 – 11:30
First Phipps Shuttle Departs Mellon Arena: 3:00 PM
Last Phipps Shuttle Departs Mellon Arena: 5:00 PM
The press riser at Phipps Conservatory will close following the departure of the spouses for Rosemont Farm. Media may depart on foot or board the shuttles to return to Mellon Arena.
CAPA School (Spousal Site)
Any press covering the CAPA School event must have the appropriate underlay. Press access to the CAPA School will be via the Convention Center. Press covering the CAPA event should rendezvous in the West Lobby of the Convention Center at 10:00 AM to be escorted over to the school. There will not be a pre-set for the CAPA School. The escorts will depart at 10:15, and press will not be permitted to walk unilaterally to the CAPA School.
Andy Warhol Museum (Spousal Site)
PLEASE NOTE: It is not logistically possible for any members of the press to cover both the CAPA School Event and the Warhol Arrivals. Any press covering the spousal arrivals at the Andy Warhol Museum must have the appropriate underlay. Press access to the Warhol Museum arrivals coverage area will be by shuttle. Press should proceed to Mellon Arena to be screened and board a shuttle to the Warhol Museum.
Warhol Museum Pre Set: 6:30 – 7:00 AM
First Warhol Shuttle Departs Mellon Arena: 10:00 AM
Last Warhol Shuttle Departs Mellon Arena: 11:15 AM
Workspace
The U.S. Government will provide 1,500 media workstations in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center at no charge to journalists covering The Pittsburgh Summit. Each workstation will include a hard wired internet line and power outlet. These workstations are unassigned and are available on a first come first served basis. They are located in the International Media Center in Halls D & E of the Convention Center on the ground level.
The following rules apply within the media zone at all summit sites:
1. Media credentials and appropriate underlays must be displayed at all times.
2. Small, discrete signage is permitted for the purpose of identifying assigned space only. Larger signs or displays are not permitted.
3. Bulk distribution of unofficial publications is not permitted.
4. Posting of any materials on walls is not permitted.
